This collection consists of papers, 1821-1895, of the Watt family of "Oak Hill," Fairfax County, Va. Items in the collection include letters, 1891-1895, from Mary Tabb (Bolling) Lee (1848-1924) to Mrs. William Watt of "Oak Hill" regarding poultry product purchase arrangements with Mrs. Watt; notebooks, 1823-1827, concerning the study of law and surveying; and miscellaneous items, including an 1821 apprenticeship agreement pertaining to Watt family members in Banff, Scotland. Also included are items related to the Fitzhugh family of "Cool Spring," Fairfax County, Va., including Andrew Fitzhugh's (d. 1850) 1837 naval commission, signed by Andrew Jackson, and correspondence, 1875-1902, of Mary A. Fitzhugh regarding claims against the estate of her uncle, David Fitzhugh.
